So they went up to Joseph’s steward and spoke to him at the entrance to the house.


‘ “Do not defraud or rob your neighbour. ‘ “Do not hold back the wages of a hired worker overnight.


‘ “Because no-one has hired us,” they answered. ‘He said to them, “You also go and work in my vineyard.”


‘The workers who were hired about five in the afternoon came and each received a denarius.


‘After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them.


‘When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne.


Stay there, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house.


The Lord answered, ‘Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their food allowance at the proper time?
