My son, give me your heart and let your eyes delight in my ways,


The Lord says: ‘These people come near to me with their mouth and honour me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.


You have planted them, and they have taken root; they grow and bear fruit. You are always on their lips but far from their hearts.


My people come to you, as they usually do, and sit before you to hear your words, but they do not put them into practice. Their mouths speak of love, but their hearts are greedy for unjust gain.


You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:


He replied, ‘Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: ‘ “These people honour me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.


When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, ‘Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.’


that all may honour the Son just as they honour the Father. Whoever does not honour the Son does not honour the Father, who sent him.


You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God.


See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.


For, ‘Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech.
