I will open my mouth with a parable; I will utter hidden things, things from of old –


See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.’


Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.


In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: ‘ “You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.


Then he told them many things in parables, saying: ‘A farmer went out to sow his seed.

In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways,
