So she got up in the middle of the night and took my son from my side while I your servant was asleep. She put him by her breast and put her dead son by my breast.


Jesus told them another parable: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field.


When the wheat sprouted and formed ears, then the weeds also appeared.


‘The owner’s servants came to him and said, “Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?”


‘ “No,” he answered, “because while you are pulling up the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them.


Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: first collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.” ’


and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.


The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.


This matter arose because some false believers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves.


See to it that no-one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.


Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.


But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them – bringing swift destruction on themselves.


The great dragon was hurled down – that ancient snake called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.


Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honour of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived.


Nevertheless, I have this against you: you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols.
