Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.


‘All things have been committed to me by my Father. No-one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no-one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.’


No-one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in the closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.


just as the Father knows me and I know the Father – and I lay down my life for the sheep.


Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God;


‘I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word.

Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.
