This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God.


‘ “If a man sleeps with a female slave who is promised to another man but who has not been ransomed or given her freedom, there must be due punishment. Yet they are not to be put to death, because she had not been freed.


‘ “If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife – with the wife of his neighbour – both the adulterer and the adulteress are to be put to death.


They said, ‘Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce and send her away.’


because Herod feared John and protected him, knowing him to be a righteous and holy man. When Herod heard John, he was greatly puzzled; yet he liked to listen to him.
