Look down from heaven and see, from your lofty throne, holy and glorious. Where are your zeal and your might? Your tenderness and compassion are withheld from us.


After all this, Lord, will you hold yourself back? Will you keep silent and punish us beyond measure?


Even when I call out or cry for help, he shuts out my prayer.


They sent their disciples to him along with the Herodians. ‘Teacher,’ they said, ‘we know that you are a man of integrity and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You aren’t swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are.


The disciples went and woke him, saying, ‘Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!’


A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped.


He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, ‘Quiet! Be still!’ Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.


The disciples went and woke him, saying, ‘Master, Master, we’re going to drown!’ He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm.


Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon.


For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.


For we do not have a high priest who is unable to feel sympathy for our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet he did not sin.


Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
