Consult God’s instruction and the testimony of warning. If anyone does not speak according to this word, they have no light of dawn.


‘Why do you call me good?’ Jesus answered. ‘No-one is good – except God alone.


You know the commandments: “You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honour your father and mother.”’


The commandments, ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not covet,’ and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’


Therefore no-one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.


Tell me, you who want to be under the law, are you not aware of what the law says?


For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’


and that in this matter no-one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before.


For he who said, ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ also said, ‘You shall not murder.’ If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a law-breaker.
