Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened towards Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.


When they came to the crowd, a man approached Jesus and knelt before him.


‘Then the King will say to those on his right, “Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.


So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples.


A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, ‘If you are willing, you can make me clean.’


‘Why do you call me good?’ Jesus answered. ‘No-one is good – except God alone.


They came to him and said, ‘Teacher, we know that you are a man of integrity. You aren’t swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are; but you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay the poll-tax to Caesar or not?


When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the impure spirit. ‘You deaf and mute spirit,’ he said, ‘I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.’


On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. ‘Teacher,’ he asked, ‘what must I do to inherit eternal life?’


He came to Jesus at night and said, ‘Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no-one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.’


You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me,


For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.’


He then brought them out and asked, ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’


When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, ‘Brothers, what shall we do?’


‘Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.


‘Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.’


To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honour and immortality, he will give eternal life.


For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.


I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,


so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.


Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?


and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you,


And this is what he promised us – eternal life.
