Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali –


Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and illness among the people.


Without delay he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.


As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew.


The whole town gathered at the door,


So he travelled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.


Jesus then left that place and went into the region of Judea and across the Jordan. Again crowds of people came to him, and as was his custom, he taught them.


A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home.


Another time Jesus went into the synagogue, and a man with a shrivelled hand was there.


When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed. ‘Where did this man get these things?’ they asked. ‘What’s this wisdom that has been given him? What are these remarkable miracles he is performing?


And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades.


On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues,


He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read,


Jesus said to them, ‘Surely you will quote this proverb to me: “Physician, heal yourself!” And you will tell me, “Do here in your home town what we have heard that you did in Capernaum.” ’


As was his custom, Paul went into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures,


Every Sabbath he reasoned in the synagogue, trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.
