David was afraid of the Lord that day and said, ‘How can the ark of the Lord ever come to me?’


She said to Elijah, ‘What do you have against me, man of God? Did you come to remind me of my sin and kill my son?’


‘I am unworthy – how can I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth.


and said to Moses, ‘Speak to us yourself and we will listen. But do not let God speak to us or we will die.’


‘Woe to me!’ I cried. ‘I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.’


When the disciples heard this, they fell face down to the ground, terrified.


On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshipped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.


The centurion replied, ‘Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.


So they signalled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.


For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken,


When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, ‘Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.’


For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
