25 ‘There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.

though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.


The stars of heaven and their constellations will not show their light. The rising sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light.


Woe to the many nations that rage – they rage like the raging sea! Woe to the peoples who roar – they roar like the roaring of great waters!


The moon will be dismayed, the sun ashamed; for the Lord Almighty will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, and before its elders – with great glory.


In that day they will roar over it like the roaring of the sea. And if one looks at the land, there is only darkness and distress; even the sun will be darkened by clouds.


For I am the Lord your God, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar – the Lord Almighty is his name.


I looked at the earth, and it was formless and empty; and at the heavens, and their light was gone.


‘At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people – everyone whose name is found written in the book – will be delivered.


The best of them is like a brier, the most upright worse than a thorn hedge. The day God visits you has come, the day your watchmen sound the alarm. Now is the time of your confusion.

From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over all the land.

At noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon.


They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.


People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken.


I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke.


Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them.
