Lord, your hand is lifted high, but they do not see it. Let them see your zeal for your people and be put to shame; let the fire reserved for your enemies consume them.


Therefore once more I will astound these people with wonder upon wonder; the wisdom of the wise will perish, the intelligence of the intelligent will vanish.’


I look but there is no-one – no-one among the gods to give counsel, no-one to give answer when I ask them.


They know nothing, they understand nothing; their eyes are plastered over so that they cannot see, and their minds closed so that they cannot understand.


Then the Lord said to me, ‘Take again the equipment of a foolish shepherd.


‘Woe to the worthless shepherd, who deserts the flock! May the sword strike his arm and his right eye! May his arm be completely withered, his right eye totally blinded!’


But if we say, “Of human origin,” all the people will stone us, because they are persuaded that John was a prophet.’


Jesus said, ‘Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.’


Jesus said, ‘For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind.’


Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.
