Lord, let thy hand be exalted, and let them not see: let the envious people see, and be confounded: and let fire devour thy enemies.


Therefore, behold, I will proceed to cause an admiration in this people, by a great and wonderful miracle: for wisdom shall perish from their wise men, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.


And I saw: and there was no one even among them to consult, or who, when I asked, could answer a word.


They have not known, nor understood: for their eyes are covered that they may not see and that they may not understand with their heart.


And the Lord said to me: Take to thee yet the instruments of a foolish shepherd.


O shepherd, and idol, that forsaketh the flock: the sword upon his arm and upon his right eye: his arm shall quite wither away, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.


But if we say, Of men, the whole people will stone us: for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.


And Jesus said to them: Neither do I tell thee by what authority I do these things.


And Jesus said: For judgment I am come into this world; that they who see not, may see; and they who see, may become blind.


Knowing this first, that in the last days there shall come deceitful scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
