and in the morning you will see the glory of the Lord, because he has heard your grumbling against him. Who are we, that you should grumble against us?’


Moses also said, ‘You will know that it was the Lord when he gives you meat to eat in the evening and all the bread you want in the morning, because he has heard your grumbling against him. Who are we? You are not grumbling against us, but against the Lord.’


‘A son honours his father, and a slave his master. If I am a father, where is the honour due to me? If I am a master, where is the respect due to me?’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘It is you priests who show contempt for my name. ‘But you ask, “How have we shown contempt for your name?”


The Lord said to Moses, ‘How long will these people treat me with contempt? How long will they refuse to believe in me, in spite of all the signs I have performed among them?


All the Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them, ‘If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this wilderness!


It is against the Lord that you and all your followers have banded together. Who is Aaron that you should grumble against him?’


‘Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.


And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.


‘Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.’


Then he said to them, ‘Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.’


Then Jesus cried out, ‘Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me.


There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day.


Very truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.’


Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to God.’


and even though my illness was a trial to you, you did not treat me with contempt or scorn. Instead, you welcomed me as if I were an angel of God, as if I were Christ Jesus himself.


Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit.
