After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem


At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea,


and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.


Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God. They were filled with awe and said, ‘We have seen remarkable things today.’


They were all filled with awe and praised God. ‘A great prophet has appeared among us,’ they said. ‘God has come to help his people.’


When this became known to the Jews and Greeks living in Ephesus, they were all seized with fear, and the name of the Lord Jesus was held in high honour.


Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles.


Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.


When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened.


So Joshua subdued the whole region, including the hill country, the Negev, the western foothills and the mountain slopes, together with all their kings. He left no survivors. He totally destroyed all who breathed, just as the Lord, the God of Israel, had commanded.


The Gibeonites then sent word to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal: ‘Do not abandon your servants. Come up to us quickly and save us! Help us, because all the Amorite kings from the hill country have joined forces against us.’


But after the three and a half days the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and terror struck those who saw them.
