When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, ‘I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless.


He provided redemption for his people; he ordained his covenant for ever – holy and awesome is his name.


Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.


Let them praise your great and awesome name – he is holy.


Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his holy mountain, for the Lord our God is holy.


Who among the gods is like you, Lord? Who is like you – majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?


Therefore the Lord, the Lord Almighty, the Mighty One of Israel, declares: ‘Ah! I will vent my wrath on my foes and avenge myself on my enemies.


For this is what the high and exalted One says – he who lives for ever, whose name is holy: ‘I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.


And they were calling to one another: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.’


Who is this coming from Edom, from Bozrah, with his garments stained crimson? Who is this, robed in splendour, striding forward in the greatness of his strength? ‘It is I, proclaiming victory, mighty to save.’


No-one is like you, Lord; you are great, and your name is mighty in power.


But the Lord is with me like a mighty warrior; so my persecutors will stumble and not prevail. They will fail and be thoroughly disgraced; their dishonour will never be forgotten.


He gave them permission, and the impure spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned.


for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed,

‘There is no-one holy like the Lord; there is no-one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.
