Who can bring what is pure from the impure? No-one!


how much less mortals, who are vile and corrupt, who drink up evil like water!


How then can a mortal be righteous before God? How can one born of woman be pure?


I will proclaim the Lord’s decree: He said to me, ‘You are my son; today I have become your father.


Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.


This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: his mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.


But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, ‘Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.


Then those who were in the boat worshipped him, saying, ‘Truly you are the Son of God.’
