11 As they fled before Israel on the road down from Beth Horon to Azekah, the Lord hurled large hailstones down on them, and more of them died from the hail than were killed by the swords of the Israelites.

Then the Lord rained down burning sulphur on Sodom and Gomorrah – from the Lord out of the heavens.


The battle spread out over the whole countryside, and the forest swallowed up more men that day than the sword.


‘Have you entered the storehouses of the snow or seen the storehouses of the hail,


which I reserve for times of trouble, for days of war and battle?


On the wicked he will rain fiery coals and burning sulphur; a scorching wind will be their lot.


He hurls down hail like pebbles. Who can withstand his icy blast?


See, the Lord has one who is powerful and strong. Like a hailstorm and a destructive wind, like a driving rain and a flooding downpour, he will throw it forcefully to the ground.


The Lord will rise up as he did at Mount Perazim, he will rouse himself as in the Valley of Gibeon – to do his work, his strange work, and perform his task, his alien task.


The Lord will cause people to hear his majestic voice and will make them see his arm coming down with raging anger and consuming fire, with cloudburst, thunderstorm and hail.


therefore tell those who cover it with whitewash that it is going to fall. Rain will come in torrents, and I will send hailstones hurtling down, and violent winds will burst forth.


For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.’

From the sky huge hailstones, each weighing about forty kilograms, fell on people. And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible.


From the heavens the stars fought, from their courses they fought against Sisera.
