If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land;


‘Make up your mind,’ Moab says. ‘Render a decision. Make your shadow like night – at high noon. Hide the fugitives, do not betray the refugees.


This is what the Lord says to you, house of David: ‘ “Administer justice every morning; rescue from the hand of the oppressor the one who has been robbed, or my wrath will break out and burn like fire because of the evil you have done – burn with no-one to quench it.


‘Does it make you a king to have more and more cedar? Did not your father have food and drink? He did what was right and just, so all went well with him.


This is what the Lord says: do what is just and right. Rescue from the hand of the oppressor the one who has been robbed. Do no wrong or violence to the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place.


Now reform your ways and your actions and obey the Lord your God. Then the Lord will relent and not bring the disaster he has pronounced against you.


This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: reform your ways and your actions, and I will let you live in this place.


He withholds his hand from ill-treating the poor and takes no interest or profit from them. He keeps my laws and follows my decrees. He will not die for his father’s sin; he will surely live.


‘Suppose there is a righteous man who does what is just and right.


He does not lend to them at interest or take a profit from them. He withholds his hand from doing wrong and judges fairly between two parties.


Do not take advantage of each other, but fear your God. I am the Lord your God.
