The Lord Almighty, who planted you, has decreed disaster for you, because the people of both Israel and Judah have done evil and aroused my anger by burning incense to Baal.


Whoever found them devoured them; their enemies said, “We are not guilty, for they sinned against the Lord, their verdant pasture, the Lord, the hope of their ancestors.”


But Nebuzaradan left behind the rest of the poorest people of the land to work the vineyards and fields.


‘ “But if you will not listen to me and carry out all these commands,


However, if you do not obey the Lord your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come on you and overtake you:


And in that day I will become angry with them and forsake them; I will hide my face from them, and they will be destroyed. Many disasters and calamities will come on them, and in that day they will ask, “Have not these disasters come on us because our God is not with us?”


The Lord saw this and rejected them because he was angered by his sons and daughters.
