Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defence; he has become my salvation.’

He despised the oath by breaking the covenant. Because he had given his hand in pledge and yet did all these things, he shall not escape.


‘You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?

So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment?

While people are saying, ‘Peace and safety’, destruction will come on them suddenly, as labour pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven?


Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it.


Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no-one will perish by following their example of disobedience.


and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him


so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.


That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched – this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.


But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold.


And they cried out in a loud voice: ‘Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.’
