and the seven years of famine began, just as Joseph had said. There was famine in all the other lands, but in the whole land of Egypt there was food.


And all the world came to Egypt to buy grain from Joseph, because the famine was severe everywhere.


He continued, ‘I have heard that there is grain in Egypt. Go down there and buy some for us, so that we may live and not die.’


Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there,


Rise up; this matter is in your hands. We will support you, so take courage and do it.’


When the people saw the thunder and lightning and heard the trumpet and saw the mountain in smoke, they trembled with fear. They stayed at a distance


The Israelite overseers realised they were in trouble when they were told, ‘You are not to reduce the number of bricks required of you for each day.’


Why are we sitting here? Gather together! Let us flee to the fortified cities and perish there! For the Lord our God has doomed us to perish and given us poisoned water to drink, because we have sinned against him.
