Then they said, ‘Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.’


So Cain went out from the Lord’s presence and lived in the land of Nod, east of Eden.


To Enoch was born Irad, and Irad was the father of Mehujael, and Mehujael was the father of Methushael, and Methushael was the father of Lamech.


When Jared had lived 162 years, he became the father of Enoch.


After he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked faithfully with God 300 years and had other sons and daughters.


During his lifetime Absalom had taken a pillar and erected it in the King’s Valley as a monument to himself, for he thought, ‘I have no son to carry on the memory of my name.’ He named the pillar after himself, and it is called Absalom’s Monument to this day.
