Jacob said to him, ‘You know how I have worked for you and how your livestock has fared under my care.


So she gave him her servant Bilhah as a wife. Jacob slept with her,


Then Rachel said, ‘God has vindicated me; he has listened to my plea and given me a son.’ Because of this she named him Dan.


While Israel was living in that region, Reuben went in and slept with his father’s concubine Bilhah, and Israel heard of it. Jacob had twelve sons:


The sons of Rachel’s servant Bilhah: Dan and Naphtali.


These were the sons born to Jacob by Bilhah, whom Laban had given to his daughter Rachel – seven in all.


These were the sons of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun,


From the descendants of Dan: All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families.


‘These are the names of the men who are to assist you: ‘from Reuben, Elizur son of Shedeur;


Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,


Then he gave Abraham the covenant of circumcision. And Abraham became the father of Isaac and circumcised him eight days after his birth. Later Isaac became the father of Jacob, and Jacob became the father of the twelve patriarchs.
