Jabez was more honourable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, ‘I gave birth to him in pain.’


Then when the king’s edict is proclaimed throughout all his vast realm, all the women will respect their husbands, from the least to the greatest.’


Trembling seized them there, pain like that of a woman in labour.


Terror will seize them, pain and anguish will grip them; they will writhe like a woman in labour. They will look aghast at each other, their faces aflame.

While people are saying, ‘Peace and safety’, destruction will come on them suddenly, as labour pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.


For Adam was formed first, then Eve.


But women will be saved through childbearing – if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.


to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no-one will malign the word of God.
