And there was evening, and there was morning – the fifth day.


God called the light ‘day’, and the darkness he called ‘night’. And there was evening, and there was morning – the first day.


God called the vault ‘sky’. And there was evening, and there was morning – the second day.


By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.


Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.


When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things.

You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees.

The Lord works out everything to its proper end – even the wicked for a day of disaster.


He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no-one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.


Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that both calamities and good things come?


He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.


For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,


because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.
