Jehu will put to death any who escape the sword of Hazael, and Elisha will put to death any who escape the sword of Jehu.


So the Lord’s anger burned against Israel, and for a long time he kept them under the power of Hazael king of Aram and Ben-Hadad his son.


Nothing had been left of the army of Jehoahaz except fifty horsemen, ten chariots and ten thousand foot soldiers, for the king of Aram had destroyed the rest and made them like the dust at threshing time.


The king of Assyria complied by attacking Damascus and capturing it. He deported its inhabitants to Kir and put Rezin to death.


‘Why is my lord weeping?’ asked Hazael. ‘Because I know the harm you will do to the Israelites,’ he answered. ‘You will set fire to their fortified places, kill their young men with the sword, dash their little children to the ground, and rip open their pregnant women.’


Ten times now you have reproached me; shamelessly you attack me.


From six calamities he will rescue you; in seven no harm will touch you.


There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him:


Invest in seven ventures, yes, in eight; you do not know what disaster may come upon the land.


Caraway is not threshed with a sledge, nor is the cartwheel rolled over cummin; caraway is beaten out with a rod, and cummin with a stick.

and on Hamath too, which borders on it, and on Tyre and Sidon, though they are very skilful.
