For the message he declared by the word of the Lord against the altar in Bethel and against all the shrines on the high places in the towns of Samaria will certainly come true.’


But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.’


Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, ‘Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.’


There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day.


The apostles and the believers throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God.


When they came to Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the church and the apostles and elders, to whom they reported everything God had done through them.


Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.


Those who accepted his message were baptised, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.


And Saul approved of their killing him. On that day a great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria.


James, Cephas and John, those esteemed as pillars, gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship when they recognised the grace given to me. They agreed that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcised.


And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe.


We sent Timothy, who is our brother and co-worker in God’s service in spreading the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you in your faith,


and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.
