You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.


Surely your wrath against mankind brings you praise, and the survivors of your wrath are restrained.


‘Have you not heard? Long ago I ordained it. In days of old I planned it; now I have brought it to pass, that you have turned fortified cities into piles of stone.


All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No-one can hold back his hand or say to him: ‘What have you done?’


and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!’


The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.’


When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots.


And they crucified him. Dividing up his clothes, they cast lots to see what each would get.

But this is how God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, saying that his Messiah would suffer.


They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen.


‘We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name,’ he said. ‘Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man’s blood.’


The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead – whom you killed by hanging him on a cross.


Was there ever a prophet your ancestors did not persecute? They even killed those who predicted the coming of the Righteous One. And now you have betrayed and murdered him –


All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law.


As it is written: ‘I have made you a father of many nations.’ He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed – the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.


who killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets and also drove us out. They displease God and are hostile to everyone


who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance.


He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake.


and, ‘A stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall.’ They stumble because they disobey the message – which is also what they were destined for.


For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a licence for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.


All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast – all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.
