‘I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.


David sang to the Lord the words of this song when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.


With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall.


I beat them as fine as the dust of the earth; I pounded and trampled them like mud in the streets.


These are the last words of David: ‘The inspired utterance of David son of Jesse, the utterance of the man exalted by the Most High, the man anointed by the God of Jacob, the hero of Israel’s songs:


And he became more and more powerful, because the Lord God Almighty was with him.

Surely you have granted him unending blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence.


I will crush his foes before him and strike down his adversaries.
