For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God?


and said: ‘Lord, the God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven above or on earth below – you who keep your covenant of love with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way.


For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods.


‘The temple I am going to build will be great, because our God is greater than all other gods.

Who among the gods is like you, Lord? Who is like you – majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?

I want you to know that I am not doing this for your sake, declares the Sovereign Lord. Be ashamed and disgraced for your conduct, people of Israel!


This is the meaning of the vision of the rock cut out of a mountain, but not by human hands – a rock that broke the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold to pieces. ‘The great God has shown the king what will take place in the future. The dream is true and its interpretation is trustworthy.’


Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry for ever but delight to show mercy.


‘Sovereign Lord, you have begun to show to your servant your greatness and your strong hand. For what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do the deeds and mighty works you do?


‘See now that I myself am he! There is no god besides me. I put to death and I bring to life, I have wounded and I will heal, and no-one can deliver out of my hand.


You were shown these things so that you might know that the Lord is God; besides him there is no other.


Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other.


‘There is no-one holy like the Lord; there is no-one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.
