Be strong, and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. The Lord will do what is good in his sight.’


The king’s word, however, overruled Joab and the army commanders; so they left the presence of the king to enrol the fighting men of Israel.


May the Lord cause you to flourish, both you and your children.


A large population is a king’s glory, but without subjects a prince is ruined.


Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy; the wealth on the seas will be brought to you, to you the riches of the nations will come.


May the Lord, the God of your ancestors, increase you a thousand times and bless you as he has promised!
