Be of good courage, and let us fight for our people, and for the city of our God: and the Lord will do what is good in his sight.


But the king's words prevailed over the words of Joab, and of the captains of the army. And Joab, and the captains of the soldiers went out from the presence of the king, to number the people of Israel.


I will pay my vows to the Lord before all his people:


In the multitude of people is the dignity of the king: and in the small number of people the dishonour of the prince.


Then shalt thou see and abound, and thy heart shall wonder and be enlarged: when the multitude of the sea shall be converted to thee, the strength of the Gentiles shall come to thee.


(The Lord God of your fathers add to this number many thousands, and bless you as he hath spoken.)
