‘Mountains of Gilboa, may you have neither dew nor rain, may no showers fall on your terraced fields. For there the shield of the mighty was despised, the shield of Saul – no longer rubbed with oil.


‘I happened to be on Mount Gilboa,’ the young man said, ‘and there was Saul, leaning on his spear, with the chariots and their drivers in hot pursuit.


he went and took the bones of Saul and his son Jonathan from the citizens of Jabesh Gilead. (They had stolen their bodies from the public square at Beth Shan, where the Philistines had hung them after they struck Saul down on Gilboa.)


Then they searched throughout Israel for a beautiful young woman and found Abishag, a Shunammite, and brought her to the king.


One day Elisha went to Shunem. And a well-to-do woman was there, who urged him to stay for a meal. So whenever he passed by, he stopped there to eat.


Their territory included: Jezreel, Kesulloth, Shunem,


When Saul saw the Philistine army, he was afraid; terror filled his heart.


Now the Philistines fought against Israel; the Israelites fled before them, and many fell dead on Mount Gilboa.


The next day, when the Philistines came to strip the dead, they found Saul and his three sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.
