You have not given me into the hands of the enemy but have set my feet in a spacious place.


then let my enemy pursue and overtake me; let him trample my life to the ground and make me sleep in the dust.


In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you.


Again David asked, ‘Will the citizens of Keilah surrender me and my men to Saul?’ And the Lord said, ‘They will.’


Saul was told that David had gone to Keilah, and he said, ‘God has delivered him into my hands, for David has imprisoned himself by entering a town with gates and bars.’


This day you have seen with your own eyes how the Lord gave you into my hands in the cave. Some urged me to kill you, but I spared you; I said, “I will not lay my hand on my lord, because he is the Lord’s anointed.”


When a man finds his enemy, does he let him get away unharmed? May the Lord reward you well for the way you treated me today.


The Lord rewards everyone for their righteousness and faithfulness. The Lord gave you into my hands today, but I would not lay a hand on the Lord’s anointed.


Abishai said to David, ‘Today God has given your enemy into your hands. Now let me pin him to the ground with one thrust of the spear; I won’t strike him twice.’
