I also told them about the gracious hand of my God on me and what the king had said to me. They replied, ‘Let us start rebuilding.’ So they began this good work.


But my mouth would encourage you; comfort from my lips would bring you relief.


As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.


Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of a friend springs from their heartfelt advice.


Because you disheartened the righteous with your lies, when I had brought them no grief, and because you encouraged the wicked not to turn from their evil ways and so save their lives,


But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.’


An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him.


Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.


But commission Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, for he will lead this people across and will cause them to inherit the land that you will see.’


You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.


While David was at Horesh in the Desert of Ziph, he learned that Saul had come out to take his life.


David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God.
