It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans.


Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.


You have not given me into the hands of the enemy but have set my feet in a spacious place.


Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.


Woe to those who go to great depths to hide their plans from the Lord, who do their work in darkness and think, ‘Who sees us? Who will know?’


Because the Lord revealed their plot to me, I knew it, for at that time he showed me what they were doing.


Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.


The people of Judah asked, ‘Why have you come to fight us?’ ‘We have come to take Samson prisoner,’ they answered, ‘to do to him as he did to us.’


Will the citizens of Keilah surrender me to him? Will Saul come down, as your servant has heard? Lord, God of Israel, tell your servant.’ And the Lord said, ‘He will.’


Now, Your Majesty, come down whenever it pleases you to do so, and we will be responsible for giving him into your hands.’


Saul was told that David had gone to Keilah, and he said, ‘God has delivered him into my hands, for David has imprisoned himself by entering a town with gates and bars.’
