22 Hannah did not go. She said to her husband, ‘After the boy is weaned, I will take him and present him before the Lord, and he will live there always.’

The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind: ‘You are a priest for ever, in the order of Melchizedek.’


Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.


One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.


then his master must take him before the judges. He shall take him to the door or the door-post and pierce his ear with an awl. Then he will be his servant for life.

‘You have done a foolish thing,’ Samuel said. ‘You have not kept the command the Lord your God gave you; if you had, he would have established your kingdom over Israel for all time.


Then Elkanah went home to Ramah, but the boy ministered before the Lord under Eli the priest.


But Samuel was ministering before the Lord – a boy wearing a linen ephod.


David said, ‘Then you will see for yourself what your servant can do.’ Achish replied, ‘Very well, I will make you my bodyguard for life.’


The boy Samuel ministered before the Lord under Eli. In those days the word of the Lord was rare; there were not many visions.
