So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, ‘After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?’


Sarah was afraid, so she lied and said, ‘I did not laugh.’ But he said, ‘Yes, you did laugh.’


Let the king be enthralled by your beauty; honour him, for he is your lord.


‘Whom have you so dreaded and feared that you have not been true to me, and have neither remembered me nor taken this to heart? Is it not because I have long been silent that you do not fear me?


But Peter and John replied, ‘Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him? You be the judges!


At daybreak the woman went back to the house where her master was staying, fell down at the door and lay there until daylight.
