And he made his son pass through the fire, and observed times and used fortune-tellers. And he dealt with familiar spirits and wizards. He worked much wickedness in the sight of Jehovah, to provoke Him to anger.


and also for the innocent blood which he shed, for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, which Jehovah would not pardon.


and shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; and the land was defiled with blood.


Do not remove the old landmarks, and do not enter into the fields of the fatherless;


Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood; their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and ruin are in their paths.


This evil people, who refuse to hear My Words, who walk in the stubbornness of their heart and walk after other gods to serve them and to worship them, shall even be like this girdle, which is good for nothing.


Because they have forsaken Me, and have made this place famous and have burned incense in it to other gods whom neither they nor their fathers have known, nor the kings of Judah, and have filled this place with the blood of innocents.


In vain I have stricken your sons; they received no correction. Your own sword has devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.


Also in your skirts is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocents; I did not find them by breaking in, but on all these.


But know for certain that if you put me to death you shall surely bring innocent blood on yourselves, and on this city, and on its people. For truly Jehovah has sent me to you to speak all these Words in your ears.


And they brought Urijah out of Egypt and brought him to Jehoiakim the king, who killed him with the sword and threw his dead body into the graves of the common people.


I have also sent to you all My servants the prophets, rising up early and sending, saying, Return now each man from his evil way, and make your doings good, and do not go after other gods to serve them, and you shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers. But you have not bowed down your ear, nor listened to Me.


They have become fat, they shine. Yes, they go past the deeds of the wicked; they do not judge the cause, the cause of the fatherless, that they may get rich; and they do not judge the right of the needy.


For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings; if you completely do judgment between a man and his neighbor;


Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods whom you do not know;


For the sins of her prophets and the iniquities of her priests, shedding the blood of the just in her midst,


and has not eaten on the mountains, nor has lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, nor has defiled his neighbor's wife, nor has come near a menstruating woman,


In you they have despised father and mother. In your midst they have dealt with the stranger by oppression. In you they oppressed the orphan and the widow.


And if a stranger lives with you in your land, you shall not oppress him.


And you shall not oppress one another. But you shall fear your God. For I am Jehovah your God.


And I will come near you to judgment. And I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those who extort from the hired laborer's wages, and turning away the widow, and the orphan, the alien, and not fearing Me, says Jehovah of Hosts.


Then all the people answered and said, Let His blood be on us and on our children.


saying, I have sinned, betraying innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? You see to that.


and a curse if you will not obey the commandments of Jehovah your God, but will turn aside out of the way which I command you today, to go after other gods which you have not known.


You shall not pervert the rightful judgment of the stranger nor of the fatherless; nor take a widow's clothing to pledge.


Cursed is he who perverts the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen.


And it shall be if you do at all forget Jehovah your God and walk after other gods and serve them and worship them, I testify against you today that you shall surely perish.


Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit orphans and widows in their afflictions, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
