And behold! Seven thin ears, and blasted with the east wind, sprang up after them!


Pul, the king of Assyria came against the land. And Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver so that his hand might be with him to confirm the kingdom in his hand.


Besides he made high places in the mountains of Judah, and caused the people of Jerusalem to commit fornication, and led astray Judah.


Should a wise man answer with windy knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?


But they flattered Him with their mouths, and they lied to Him with their tongues.


Why do you go about so much to change your way? You also shall be ashamed of Egypt, as you were ashamed of Assyria.


The wind shall eat up all your shepherds, and your lovers shall go into captivity; surely then you will be ashamed and humiliated for all your wickedness.


And I will cast you out of My sight, as I have cast out all your brothers, the whole seed of Ephraim.


We have given the hand to Egypt, to Assyria, to be satisfied with bread.


And behold, being planted, shall it prosper? Shall it not utterly wither when the east wind touches it? It shall wither in the beds where it sprouted.


Ephraim circles around Me with lying, and the house of Israel with deceit. But Judah still rules with God, and is faithful with the saints.


I will not carry out the heat of My anger; I will not return to destroy Ephraim. For I am God and not man, the Holy One in your midst; and I will not enter into the city.


Though you, Israel, fornicate, yet do not let Judah become guilty. And do not come to Gilgal, nor go up to Beth-aven, nor swear, As Jehovah lives.


The wind has bound her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.


When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his wound, then Ephraim went to the Assyrian and sent to King Jareb. Yet he could not heal you nor cure you of your wound.


When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was uncovered, and the wickedness of Samaria. For they have worked falsehood. And the thief comes in, the troop of robbers plunders outside.


Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart; they call to Egypt; they go to Assyria.


For they sow the wind, and they reap the whirlwind. It has no stalk; the bud shall yield no meal; if it does yield, strangers shall swallow it up.
