4 Then the presidents and rulers sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom. But they could find no occasion or fault, because he was faithful. Neither was there any error or fault found in him.

And Pharaoh said to his servants, Can we find any man like this, in whom the Spirit of God is?


And the men were afraid, because they were brought into Joseph's house. And they said, Because of the silver that was returned in our sacks at the first time we are brought in, to throw himself on us, and fall upon us, and take us for bondmen, and our asses.


An unjust man is a hateful thing to the just; and he who is upright in the way is hateful to the wicked.


Again, I considered all labor, and every right work, that for this a man is envied by his neighbor. This is also vanity and vexation of spirit.


Then they said, Come and let us plot schemes against Jeremiah. For the Law shall not perish from the priest, nor wisdom from the wise, nor the Word from the prophet. Come and let us strike him with the tongue, and let us not pay attention to any of his words.


Yet, Jehovah, You know all their counsel against me to kill me. Do not forgive their iniquity, nor blot out their sin from Your sight, but let them be overthrown before You; deal with them in the time of Your anger.


For I heard the slanders of many, Terror is all around! Expose! Yea, let us expose him! Every man of my peace is watching for my fall, saying, Perhaps he will be lured away, and we shall prevail over him, and we shall take our revenge on him.


And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be exiled, and pray to Jehovah for it. For in its peace you shall have peace.


Then at that time certain Chaldeans came near and accused the Jews.


because an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, explaining of dreams, and revealing of hard sentences, and the unraveling of knots, were found in this Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar. Now let Daniel be called, and he will reveal the meaning.


My God has sent His Angel, and has shut the lions' mouths, and they have not hurt me, because before Him purity was found in me. And also before you, O king, I have done no harm.


And they consulted so that they might take Jesus by guile and kill Him.


For he knew they had delivered Him because of envy.


And they watched and sent forth spies, pretending themselves to be righteous men, so that they might seize upon a word of His, that they might deliver Him in this way to the power and authority of the governor.


And they could not take hold of His words before the people. And they marveled at His answer and were silent.


And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill Him, for they feared the people.


Then Pilate went out again and said to them, Behold, I bring him out to you so that you may know that I find no fault in him.


But what I do, that I will do, so that I may cut off occasion from those who desire occasion; so that in the thing in which they boast, they may be found even as we.


so that you may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation. Among these you shine as lights in the world,


Therefore I want the younger ones to marry, bear children, guide the house, giving no occasion to the adversary because of reproach.


in sound speech that cannot be condemned, that he who is opposed may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.


having your conduct honest among the nations, in that which they speak against you as evildoers, they may glorify God in a day of His visitation, seeing your good works.


having a good conscience, that while they speak against you as evildoers they may be shamed, those falsely accusing your good behavior in Christ.


But his father and his mother did not know that it was from Jehovah, that He was looking for an occasion against the Philistines. For at that time the Philistines had the rule over Israel.


And they said, You have not defrauded us nor oppressed us, neither have you taken from any man's hand.


And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways. And Jehovah was with him.


And Ahimelech answered the king and said, And who is so faithful among all your servants as David, who is the king's son-in-law, and who goes at your bidding, and who is honorable in your house?
