8 But Daniel laid on his heart that he would not defile himself with the king's food, nor with the wine which he drank. So he asked permission of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

Let not my heart turn aside to any evil thing, to practice wicked works with men who work iniquity; and let me not eat of their delicacies.


Do not desire his delicacies, for they are deceitful food.


And the king gave them the portion of a day in its day from the king's food, and the wine which he drank, even to rear them three years, so that at their end they might stand before the king.


They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, and of bronze, of iron, of wood, and of stone.


who was glad when he had come and had seen the grace of God. And he exhorted all with purpose of heart to remain near to the Lord.


but that we write to them that they should abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.


But he who stands steadfast in his heart, having no necessity, but who has authority over his own will (and has so judged in his heart that he will keep his virginity) he does well.


Each one, as he purposes in his heart, let him give; not of grief, or of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver.


Who ate the fat of their sacrifices and drank the wine of their drink offerings? Let them rise up and help you; let it be your hiding place.
