And Ahab came into his house heavy and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him: for he had said, I will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And he laid him down upon his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread.


He teareth himself in his anger: Shall the earth be forsaken for thee? And shall the rock be removed out of his place?


Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: Then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.


For wrath killeth the foolish man, And envy slayeth the silly one.


But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry.


Then said the LORD, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night:


And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live.


Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.


For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.


And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.


And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death;
