That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked; and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?


And it was so, when Ahi´jah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, thou wife of Jerobo´am; why feignest thou thyself to be another? for I am sent to thee with heavy tidings.


And Eli´jah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gil´e-ad, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.


And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Eli´jah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel?


And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Haz´a-el shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Eli´sha slay.


And he said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to inquire of Ba-al´–zebub the god of Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to inquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down off that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.


And there came a writing to him from Eli´jah the prophet, saying, Thus saith the Lord God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehosh´aphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,


He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.


Therefore hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.


My flesh trembleth for fear of thee; and I am afraid of thy judgments.


And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.


but with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.


Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and show my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.


See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.


For, behold, I have made thee this day a defensed city, and an iron pillar, and brazen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.


Then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings that sit upon David's throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.


Is not my word like as a fire? saith the Lord; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?


Wherefore thus saith the Lord God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.


Therefore prophesy against them, prophesy, O son of man.


As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.


Son of man, wail for the multitude of Egypt, and cast them down, even her, and the daughters of the famous nations, unto the nether parts of the earth, with them that go down into the pit.


And it was according to the appearance of the vision which I saw, even according to the vision that I saw when I came to destroy the city: and the visions were like the vision that I saw by the river Chebar; and I fell upon my face.


The just Lord is in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every morning doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame.


When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came unto him,


but, after thy hardness and impenitent heart, treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;


And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:


For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.


And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.


Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.


And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.


neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.


And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the Lord thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the Lord have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever.


And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.


Then said Samuel, Bring ye hither to me Agag the king of the Amal´ekites. And Agag came unto him delicately. And Agag said, Surely the bitterness of death is past.


And Samuel said, As thy sword hath made women childless, so shall thy mother be childless among women. And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the Lord in Gilgal.
