Far be it from thee to do this thing, and to slay the just with the wicked, and for the just to be in like case as the wicked. This is not beseeming thee, thou who judgest all the earth, wilt not make this judgment.


Ahias heard the sound of her feet coming in at the door, and said: Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam. Why dost thou feign thyself to be another? But I am sent to thee with heavy tidings.


And Elias the Thesbite of the inhabitants of Galaad said to Achab: As the Lord liveth, the God of Israel, in whose sight I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to the words of my mouth.


And when he had seen him, he said: Art thou he that troublest Israel?


And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall escape the sword of Hazael shall be slain by Jehu: and whosoever shall escape the sword of Jehu shall be slain by Eliseus.


And said to him: Thus saith the Lord: Because thou hast sent messengers to consult Beelzebub the god of Accaron, as though there were not a God in Israel, of whom thou mightest inquire the word; therefore from the bed on which thou art gone up, thou shalt not come down, but thou shalt surely die.


And there was a letter brought him from Elias the prophet, in which it was written: Thus saith the Lord the God of David thy father: Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Josaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Juda,


He shall not depart out of darkness. The flame shall dry up his branches: and he shall be taken away by the breath of his own mouth.


Therefore, ye men of understanding, hear me. Far from God be wickedness: and iniquity from the Almighty.


My sores are putrified and corrupted, because of my foolishness.


But he shall judge the poor with justice, and shall reprove with equity for the meek of the earth. And he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth: and with the breath of his lips he shall slay the wicked.


CRY, cease not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their wicked doings and the house of Jacob their sins.


Lo, I have set thee this day over the nations, and over the kingdoms, to root up and to pull down, and to waste and to destroy, and to build and to plant.


For, behold, I have made thee this day a fortified city and a pillar of iron and a wall of brass, over all the land, to the kings of Juda, to the princes thereof and to the priests and to the people of the land.


And thou shalt say to them: Thus saith the Lord: Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, and the kings of the race of David that sit upon his throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.


Are not my words as a fire, saith the Lord, and as a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?


Thus saith the Lord the God of hosts: Because you have spoken this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth as fire and this people as wood; and it shall devour them.


Therefore prophesy against them, prophesy, thou son of man.


I have made thy face like an adamant and like flint. Fear them not, neither be thou dismayed at their presence: for they are a provoking house.


Son of man, sing a mournful song for the multitude of Egypt: and cast her down, both her, and the daughters of the mighty nations to the lowest part of the earth, with them that go down into the pit.


And I saw the vision according to the appearance which I had seen when he came to destroy the city: and the appearance was according to the vision which I had seen by the river Chobar: and I fell upon my face.


The just Lord is in the midst thereof, he will not do iniquity: in the morning, in the morning he will bring his judgment to light, and it shall not be hid: but the wicked man hath not known shame.


And Moses seeing it, wondered at the sight. And as he drew near to view it, the voice of the Lord came unto him, saying:


But according to thy hardness and impenitent heart, thou treasurest up to thyself wrath, against the day of wrath, and revelation of the just judgment of God.


And take unto you the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit (which is the word of God).


For the word of God is living and effectual, and more piercing than any two edged sword; and reaching unto the division of the soul and the spirit, of the joints also and the marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.


And he had in his right hand seven stars. And from his mouth came out a sharp two edged sword: and his face was as the sun shineth in his power.


In like manner do penance: if not, I will come to thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.


And the four angels were loosed, who were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year: for to kill the third part of men.


Neither did they penance from their murders, nor from their sorceries, nor from their fornication, nor from their thefts.


And Samuel said to Saul: Thou hast done foolishly, and hast not kept the commandments of the Lord thy God, which he commanded thee. And if thou hadst not done thus, the Lord would now have established thy kingdom over Israel for ever.


And Samuel said: Doth the Lord desire holocausts and victims, and not rather that the voice of the Lord should be obeyed? For obedience is better than sacrifices; and to hearken rather than to offer the fat of rams.


And Samuel said: Bring hitherto me Agag the king of Amalec. And Agag was presented to him very fat, and trembling. And Agag said: Doth bitter death separate in this manner?


And Samuel said: As thy sword hath made women childless, so shall thy mother be childless among women. And Samuel hewed him in pieces before the Lord in Galgal.
