and the Horites in their mount Se´ir, unto El–pa´ran, which is by the wilderness.


and Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.


Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, and the mother with the children.


Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed: and he divided the people that was with him, and the flocks, and herds, and the camels, into two bands;


Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant; and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children be able to endure, until I come unto my lord unto Se´ir.


So Esau returned that day on his way unto Se´ir.


But Abner the son of Ner, captain of Saul's host, took Ish–bo´sheth the son of Saul, and brought him over to Mahana´im;


And Eli´sha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Eli´sha.


And these are the numbers of the bands that were ready armed to the war, and came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the Lord.


How beautiful are thy feet with shoes, O prince's daughter! The joints of thy thighs are like jewels, the work of the hands of a cunning workman.


The burden of Dumah. He calleth to me out of Se´ir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?


Concerning Edom, thus saith the Lord of hosts; Is wisdom no more in Teman? is counsel perished from the prudent? is their wisdom vanished?


Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts.


And Edom shall be a possession, Se´ir also shall be a possession for his enemies; and Israel shall do valiantly.


and sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.


(There are eleven days' journey from Horeb by the way of mount Se´ir unto Ka´desh–barne´a.)


as he did to the children of Esau, which dwelt in Se´ir, when he destroyed the Horim from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day:


meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a footbreadth; because I have given mount Se´ir unto Esau for a possession.


And their coast was from Mahana´im, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all the towns of Ja´ir, which are in Bashan, threescore cities:


And I gave unto Isaac Jacob and Esau: and I gave unto Esau mount Se´ir, to possess it; but Jacob and his children went down into Egypt.
