And David sent messengers to Ish–bo´sheth Saul's son, saying, Deliver me my wife Michal, which I espoused to me for a hundred foreskins of the Philistines.


Nevertheless, David took the stronghold of Zion: the same is the city of David.


So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.


Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel today, who uncovered himself today in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!


And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the Lord came to the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she despised him in her heart.


Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.


Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face.


He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.


And Saul said to David, Behold my elder daughter Merab, her will I give thee to wife: only be thou valiant for me, and fight the Lord's battles. For Saul said, Let not mine hand be upon him, but let the hand of the Philistines be upon him.


And Michal Saul's daughter loved David: and they told Saul, and the thing pleased him.
