And Jo´ab blew the trumpet, and the people returned from pursuing after Israel: for Jo´ab held back the people.


And they took Ab´salom, and cast him into a great pit in the wood, and laid a very great heap of stones upon him: and all Israel fled every one to his tent.


So Jo´ab blew a trumpet, and all the people stood still, and pursued after Israel no more, neither fought they any more.


And there happened to be there a man of Be´li-al, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjamite: and he blew a trumpet, and said, We have no part in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to his tents, O Israel.


Then cried a wise woman out of the city, Hear, hear; say, I pray you, unto Jo´ab, Come near hither, that I may speak with thee.


Wisdom strengtheneth the wise more than ten mighty men which are in the city.


Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
